Observing the constant spike in COVID-19 positivity rates in the district over the last few days, the Deputy and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah has issued an order for closure of all picnic spots under the administrative jurisdiction of Chirang for public safety and a possible outbreak of COVID-19 virus on Friday.

KOKRAJHAR: Observing the constant spike in COVID-19 positivity rates in the district over the last few days, the Deputy and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah has issued an order for closure of all picnic spots under the administrative jurisdiction of Chirang for public safety and a possible outbreak of COVID-19 virus on Friday.

The order stated that it would come into force from 6am on January 22 and would remain in force until further orders. The order also requested all citizens to strictly follow the COVID-19 appropriate behaviours like maintaining social distancing in public places, frequent use of hand sanitizers, wearing of face masks, avoiding unnecessary gathering, movement at any public places.

"Any violation of the order by any individual and organization will be viewed seriously and may even be proceeded against as per provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005 besides legal action under IPC and other legal provisions as applicable," the order further said.
