Kokrajhar: The Bongaigaon Diocese of Believers Eastern Church has reached out with dry ration items to the needy people, especially during the countrywide lockdown due to COVID-19, and distributed rice 7 quintal, potato 4 quintal, mustard oil 100 litres, salt 100 kg and 100 soaps among the poor villages of Nayagaon and Patalmari under the Amguri Police station of Chirang district on Wednesday.

The villagers are mostly daily wage labourers and firewood sellers and this present situation of lockdown has caused a lot of problems for them in managing food. In the distribution programme, Rev. Fr. Ajay Tulsiary, the Vicar General of the Diocese, was present and also Fr. Janosh Borgoray, Fr. Amiyo Kumar Basumatary, Naba Basumatary and Nayagaon Village Head. Amuguri Police Station in-charge helped in maintaining the order and keeping physical distance.
