The meeting was chaired by president Apurva Kumar Das while the proceedings were conducted by general secretary Bidyut Sharma. The speakers coming from Howajan, Gohpur, Bedeti, and Borgang unanimously observed in the meeting that the district headquarter possessed the full potential for setting up a medical college. Veteran social workers Jiten Bhagawati, Indreswar Kataki, Swaraj Hazarika and Pradeep Kumar Sharma spoke a few words. The speakers also lamented that most of the district-level offices of various government departments had not been established at Biswanath Chariali so far resulting in much inconvenience to the common men. The meet also decided to submit three memoranda to the Chief Minister, the Health Minister and the Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath respectively, in this respect. The Government of Assam had recently announced setting up of a medical college at Biswanath Chariali.
