‘Citizenship Amendment Act is against the interest of Assamese people’

Dibrugarh: The Ahom Royal Society (ARS) and Ahom Royal Youth Federation (ARYF) in a joint press communique has called up the Union and the State government to introduce the Inner Line Permit (IPL) in the State besides deletion of all the foreigners’ name from all the government’s documents for the interest of the indigenous people. The ARS Executive President Kamala Rajkonwar and secretary-general Uttam Kumar Baruah and ARYF President Devajit Rajkhowa and Secretary Khagen Gogoi urged upon both the Centre as well as the State government to ensure land and constitutionally approved political rights to the indigenous people for the greater interest of India’s integrity. Both ARS and ARYF lent their support and full cooperation to the anti-CAA movement led by the various indigenous organizations and stated that the CAA is undemocratic and against the interest of the local Assamese people of the State.
Meanwhile, the mass agitation of the AASU was concluded on December 18 with the participation of a large number of people including representatives from Sodou Asom Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) of undivided Dibrugarh district, informed the former organizing secretary of SAKP Dilip Singh. The president of SAKP, Basav Kalita, had offered his gratitude to all the members of SAKP for their participation in the Gana Satyagraha.
