Civic works under Doomdooma Municipality come to a standstill

TINSUKIA: As normal work in Doomdooma Municipality came to a standstill, the citizens of Doomdooma, after facing immense difficulties, have demanded that Nandita Roy Gohain, the Circle Officer, should be relieved from the additional charge of Executive Officer (EO) and another incumbent for Doomdooma Municipality should be appointed.

In a joint petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, the public alleged that due to COVID-19 and other emergency works like Baghjan incident and flood relief, Gohain did not attend the municipal office during the past three months. As a result, the public have been facing inconvenience to get essential works done like permission, collection of taxes and payment.

The public, however, did not put the blame solely on the Circle Officer and instead made the Deputy Commissioner responsible for such chaos because the Circle Officer has been holding two other additional charges like Treasury Officer and EO of Municipality.
