CM Himanta Biswa Sarma reviews development initiatives during Tamulpur visit

GORESWAR: The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, visited Tamulpur with a daylong itinerary on Friday. He first participated in a review meeting held at the office of the District Commissioner. District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravorty presented a detailed report on the district’s progress in various sectors. His presentation included topics like Tamulpur securing first place among development blocks in the country, the Panchamrit initiative in agriculture and health, loan melas, job fairs, Mission Bikalpa, Jal Sainik, Run for Happiness, human-elephant conflict, tree plantation drives, midday meals, and anti-drugs campaigns.

He also reviewed the progress of flagship schemes being implemented in the district under the guidance of the Chief Minister, namely Orunodoi 3.0, the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Mission, the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan, and Eti Koli Duti Paat (One Bud, Two Leaves) initiative for tea garden.

The Chief Minister closely examined all the issues and urged that no eligible beneficiary should be deprived of their rightful entitlements. He also took stock of infrastructure issues such as roads and bridges from the elected representatives and officials.

While reviewing the implementation of Orunodoi 3.0 in Tamulpur, the Chief Minister stated that during the previous two phases, a total of 20,833 beneficiaries were covered under the scheme, and with Orunodoi 3.0, this number will be increased to 59,000 in the district. He added that the number of beneficiaries under the Women Entrepreneurship Mission, Eti Koli Duti Paat, and ration card distribution will also be increased in Tamulpur district.

In the review meeting, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that the benefits of the schemes should reach the grassroots level effectively and transparently. He underlined the importance of efficient implementation of key schemes so that they can bring about positive change in the lives of at least 1.5 lakh families in the region.

The Chief Minister directed District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravorty to finalize the list of beneficiaries in coordination with the district-level monitoring committee so that these schemes can be inaugurated by August.

Later, the Chief Minister also inspected the newly-constructed building of the District Commissioner’s office. He then inaugurated the newly-built BJP district office in Tamulpur and participated in a booth-level conference held at the Mahaprabhu Shri Shri Gopal and Jagannath Than Satra in Kochubari village. He interacted with officials from 40 different local institutions and organizations at the same venue.

The review meeting at the District Commissioner’s office was attended by BTC Chief Promod Boro, Guardian Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, MP Dilip Saikia, local MLA Jolen Daimary, BTC Executive Members Dharmanarayana Das and Ranendra Narzary, BTC MCLAs Bijit Gwiura Narzary, Hemanta Kumar Rabha, Pabitra Kumar Boro, and Champabati Deka, BTC Principal Secretary Akashdeep, Senior Superintendent of Police Diganta Kumar Choudhury, district administration officials, and various departmental heads of the district.
