GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday reviewed the progress of different roads under construction in Golaghat district. He asked the PWD (Roads) to start the project of converting the existing road from Dergaon to Golaghat into a four-lane road. He also asked the district functionaries to expeditiously complete Asom Mala project in Golaghat.

The Chief Minister also made a slew of direction to the PWD (Buildings) during the review. He asked the department to prepare a blueprint for sports complexes in Dergaon and Sarupothar constituencies of Golaghat district. Moreover, the Chief Minister asked the DC to narrow down on the location and land for the proposed Medical College, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya and integrated DC office in Golaghat district.

The Chief Minister also inspected three pieces of land for the proposed Medical College and Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya.

Later, Chief Minister Sarma also unveiled a life-sized statue of Birangana Sati Sadhani at the Sati Sadhani Kalakshetra in Golaghat. The statue designed by eminent sculptor Ranjit Bora is the manifestation of the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of Birangana Sati Sadhani. The Chief Minister on the occasion also offered his tributes to this icon of valour and patriotism.

On the otherhand, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma during his daylong tour to Golaghat district, dedicated a 10 bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital in Golaghat on Wednesday.

It may be noted that the new 10 bedded ICU ward has been built to augment health infrastructure to fight against COVID pandemic and to give critical care to the COVID positive patients of the district.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma while inaugurating the ward said that the new state of the art ICU ward will be able to provide advanced and accessible health care facilities to the people of Golaghat. He also said the oxygen plant set up adjacent to the ICU ward will further boost critical care during odd hours. The Chief Minister also thanked the PWD (Building) and Health department for their mutual coordination in giving shape to the ICU ward expeditiously.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, host of other dignitaries and senior government officials were also present during the occasion, stated a press release.
