CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Unveils Rs 576-Crore Development Projects in Nalbari

Nalbari: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked Nalbari District Day by unveiling 27 development projects worth Rs 576 crore, giving the district a significant infrastructural push.

Sarma laid the foundation stone for 20 projects with a combined investment of Rs 427.16 crore. Key initiatives include a Rs 114-crore 24-hour piped water supply scheme for Nalbari municipal areas, a Miyawaki urban forest project, an Rs 18-crore convention centre, and a Rs 7.85-crore street lighting project.

Other projects in the package feature a Rs 19-crore circuit house, a Rs 31-crore skill development institute at Dhamdhama, and modern sports facilities at Gordon Ground worth Rs 22.56 crore. The chief minister also inaugurated seven completed projects valued at Rs 148.45 crore, including a Rs 69.4-crore railway overbridge.

Looking ahead, Sarma shared his vision of launching a metro rail service linking Nalbari to Guwahati and extending from Guwahati to Jagiroad. He expressed confidence that Assam could become one of India’s top five developed states if its potential is channelled effectively. “If our youth direct their energy positively, nothing can stop Assam’s progress,” he said.
