GORESWAR: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma performed bhumi pujan of Tamulpur Medical College & Hospital and laid the foundation stone of various developmental projects in and around Tamulpur in presence of ministers UG Brahma and Keshab Mahanta, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro, on Wednesday.

In this connection, a ceremonial function was also held at Kachubari in Tamulpur. Pramod Boro in his welcome address said, "It is a historic day for Tamulpur. The people of Tamulpur had been facing a lot of problems in road communication in absence of bridges over Pagladia, Motonga, Balti and Kala rivers. Our students will now become doctors as the Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital will be constructed."

Chief Minister Sarma said, "A new journey of development will start from today. All government offices for newly-constructed Tamulpur district will be completed within the next six months. The young generation should take pen in their hands, not guns. We want Assam to be a developed state. We believe this can only happen with good practices and hard work."

The Chief Minister urged Pramod Boro to safeguard the Bengali, Nepali, Adivasi and other communities. They should not be deprived of their land rights.

"The Tamulpur Medical and Hospital and bridges over Pagladia, Motonga, Balti and Kala rivers will be completed soon. A mini stadium in Tamulpur for youth development, Science stream in a college of Tamulpur, new building for each and every high school will be started in the coming days," said the Chief Minister. Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary and ministers Keshab Mahanta and UG Brahma also spoke in the well-attended meeting.
