Goalpara: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that State government is committed to safeguard the land, hearth, culture, literature and language of the people of Assam and one should not be apprehensive of their rights and privileges. Steps taken by the government in allotting land pattas to indigenous people is the manifestation of the government’s intent.
Speaking at a function held at Dudhnoi on Wednesday to commemorate the swearing in ceremony of the members of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council and inaugurating Mukhya Mantri Krishi Sa Sajuli Yojana for Goalpara district, Chief Minister Sonowal said the government is committed to protect the interests of 3.3 crore people of Assam.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government has given never before thrust to add new momentum to the growth of the state. He also said that financial allotment for 10000 km road under PMGSY has already been released. On the other hand for converting 1000 wooden bridges into concrete ones work is going on in full swing. Besides five new bridges over the Brahmaputra will give new dimension to the connectivity of the state. He also said that launching of projects worth Rs. 18,000 crore by the Prime Minister at a programme held at Changsari on February 9, is the testimony of the government’s importance to the state.
Chief Minister Sonowal also said that investment to the tune of Rs. 22,594 crore for revamping NRL is a landmark development in the investment scenario of the state. He also appealed to the youth of the state to work hard and take the advantages ushered in by the large scale investment from both public and private sector in the state.
Under Chief Minister Sammagra Gram Unnayan Yojana besides providing tractor to 26 thousand villages in the State, the Centre’s decision to give Rs. 6000 to the farmers for their empowerment will be carried out in letter and spirit. Under Mukhya Mantri Krishi Sa Sajuli Yojana the State government will give Rs. 5000 to each 5 lakh farmers to help them buy agricultural equipment. He also asked the teachers and guardians to play proactive role to inspire the students to educate themselves and empower them as potential human resources.
It may be noted that the Chief Minister who inaugurated Mukhya Mantri Krishi Sa Sajuli Yojana in Goalpara district today would benefit 14580 farmers from 81 gaon panchayats.
He also urged upon the Rabha Hasong Autonmous Council which has been reconstituted under the leadership of Tankeswar Rabha to work to expedite social, educational, cultural and economic development of the people of the area.
He also said that considering the immense importance of Goalpara in the fields of agriculture and other areas, government would set up Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Goalpara. Stating that the agricultural outputs of Assam occupied markets in London, Singapore, Dubai etc, he urged upon the youth of the districts to take the advantage and project themselves as potential resources in growth narratives of the country.
Chief Executive Member of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Tankeswar Rabha, MLA Dipak Rabha, Lower Assam Division Commissioner Nitin Khade and a host of dignitaries were present on the occasion.
