CM Sarbananda Sonowal pitches for education, culture, sports-driven development

Foundation stone for 4th Academic Block of CIT, Kokrajhar laid

Kokrajhar: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has advocated for a three point mantra of education, culture and sports to catapult the development of Assam. Speaking on the 14th foundation day celebration of Central Institute of Technology at Kokrajhar where he laid the foundation stone of 4th academic block of the institute, Sonowal said, “Assam has no dearth of human resources. Only a roadmap is required to stir up the human resources of the State and education, culture and sports will provide us the edifice to draw the roadmap for effective implementation of our rich human resources.” He also requested teachers and parents to be the guide and philosopher to lead their wards to the path of educational excellence. Chief Minister Sonowal also hailed the Central Institute of Technology for gradually transforming itself into a centre of importance where students from different regions of the country study together. He also urged upon the director and other faculty members to convert the institution into an institute of integration and unity.

Chief Minister Sonowal said that Kokrajhar and other three districts of BTAD once considered as disturbed areas, now can claim themselves to be an epitome of peace, progress and prosperity. He, therefore, thanked BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary for leading his men and machinery and made development a reality in BTAD areas. He also thanked him for transforming the BTAD areas into a place of peaceful and harmonious coexistence and called upon everybody to strengthen the bond of unity and friendship in BTAD areas.

Chief Minister Sonowal said that one of the key interests of his government is to facilitate equal development of all the 33 districts of the State and requested the authorities of BTAD to fully implement the government schemes in totality in the four districts.

Stating that of all the cultures, work culture is the best culture, he called upon the students to work hard and bring laurels to the nation. He also asked them to be innovative and use the tools of science and technology to expedite the development of the nation.

Terming Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar as an incubation centre that applies science and technology for growth of humanity, Sonowal said that in the coming days the institute has to claim larger responsibility for ease of life of the people in the society. It may be noted that the new academic block IV that Sonowal laid the foundation would be built with a financial outlay of Rs.138 crore.

Sonowal in his speech also expressed deep condolence on the demise of former President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha Bajendra Kumar Brahma. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary in his brief speech gave a snap shot of all development works that will be rolled out in the BTAD areas in the coming days. Deputy Chief of BTC Khampa Borgoyari, State Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma, Director of CIT Prof. DK Chakraborty and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
