CM Sarbananda Sonowal reviews various departments in Lakhimpur

GUWAHATI: Taking a review of the level of implementation of the government schemes in Lakhimpur district on Thursday, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal asked the Deputy Commissioner Jeevan B to bring in more beneficiaries under the ambit of welfare schemes like Atal Amrit Abhiyan, Aayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna etc. He also asked the DC to hold periodic review meetings atleast once in 15 days to have constant monitoring on the implementation of schemes in the district.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal asked the Lakhimpur DC and heads of various departments in the district to extensively use govt machinery for generating massive awareness in order to enable the people to enjoy the fruits of welfare schemes of the government.

While taking review of the health department, Chief Minister Sonowal asked Joint Director Health to expeditiously administer Japanese Encephalitis (JE) vaccination among the people. He also asked him to create mass awareness so that more and more people can avail benefits of schemes like Atal Amrit Yojna, Aayushman Bharat etc.

Directing the District Agriculture Officer to use his men and machinery to achieve the objective doubling farmers’ income in the district by 2022, Sonowal asked him to ensure that the fruits of the agricultural schemes reach the genuine farmers. He also asked District Agriculture Officer to sensitise the field level staff of agriculture department to take the agriculture schemes to the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister also took stock of the schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and asked the P&RD Department to extend benefits of the scheme to all beneficiaries in the district. While taking review of the water resources department, Sonowal asked the functionaries to maintain the embankments in the district and repair even the slightest of breach, if there is any, before the onset of the monsoon. He also asked the Department to erect the embankment in such a way so that they do not cause any inconvenience to the local people.

Reviewing the implementation of Divyang pension scheme, Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Achoni (Old Age Pension), Poshan Abhiyan of the social welfare department and asked the DC to maintain constant vigil on the implementation of the schemes. He also took review of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna and MGNREGA and asked the department concerned to the take local people, who are also the stakeholders, into confidence for the successful implementation of the schemes.

He also asked the district machinery to work as a team so that the model of a good district can be established. Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley, MP Pradan Barua, MLA Debananda Hazarika were also present during the meeting, stated a press release.
