CM Sonowal urged students to use social media responsibly at DHS Kanoi College in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: “Historic DHS Kanoi College has a unique identity in the higher education scenario of the state and all must strive to sustain this glorious reputation of this college,” Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of platinum jubilee celebrations of DHS Kanoi College at Dibrugarh.

Reminiscing his memories as a student of the college Sonowal called on all stakeholders to make this prestigious institute one of the best colleges in the country and urged the students to send a positive message to the society on this grand occasion of platinum jubilee celebrations.

He also said that to excel in today’s competitive environment the students must inculcate a studious mindset and he urged them to engage in sports and culture equally for holistic development. Only studying for long hours and imbibing a hardworking nature could pave way for achieving a strong personality, he asserted.

Saying that only through a robust work culture-positive change could be brought to the society, Sonowal referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s example of hard work and dedication to make India one of the top countries in the world. He also stressed on the need to harness the immense potential of Assam with scientific temperament while also informing about the state government’s Discovery of Assam scheme for introducing outsiders with the rich bio-diversity and cultural mosaic of the state.

Prime Minister’s Modi’s thrust to develop the NE region through Act East Policy, starting of direct flights between Guwahati and international destinations like Dhaka, Bangkok and Singapore, 10 percent cut in corporate tax by the Central Government to encourage private sector industries for generating employment were some of the other points highlighted by the chief minister in his speech.

He also called on the young generation to stay away from spreading messages on social media which could create a rift in the society and destabilize the nation.

MLAs Teras Gowala, Prashanta Phukan, Bimal Bora, DHS Kanoi College’s donor member Jyotiprasad Kanoi, DC Dibrugarh Pallav Gopal Jha were also present at the programme along with other dignitaries.
