DIGBOI: A team of top security agencies along with the top brass of the district civil administration visited Digboi and took the stock of the security arrangement and other related vital aspects here at Digboi Bodousa Samannya Kshetra prior to the visit of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal here on Saturday afternoon.

Sonowal will grace the second day of the All Moran Students' Union (AMSU) central biennial conference here in Digboi in Tinsukia district. He will take part in the open session and address the Moran body.

The Chief Minister's security protocol was minutely assessed, besides taking into consideration other vital aspects like convoy, transportation, parking, fooding and accommodation for the smooth conduct of affairs.

"We have also conducted convoy drill for Saturday noon wherein the chief guest of the programme will be escorted from the Digboi helipad to the BodusaSamannyaKhetra covering around 2 kilometers ," said an official of a security agency, adding, "An elaborate, effective and multi-layered security system has been ensured by various agencies."

Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Diganta Saikia, while addressing the media at the site on Friday afternoon, wished the organizing committee success and urged the people to maintain the COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines of the government.

Meanwhile, the second day of the biennial meet was marked by cultural, sports and literary events, including the release of several books. As a part of the four-day long agenda, the organizing committee also felicitated 80 dignitaries from across the district for their outstanding contributions in the field of sports, culture, education and literature.

However, the delegates' meet slated to be held on the maiden day was postponed due to some unavoidable reasons. It will be held on November 22 at Indian Club.
