TINSUKIA: Synchronizing with observance of World Elephant Day, an informative coffee table book titled Serene Saraipung-the mystic tale of Dihing Patkai National Park was released by Narsing Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, at Banashree Eco Camp at Guijan on Thursday, in presence Debojit Deuri, Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia, and other dignitaries.

The book, written by Imon Abedin, an upcoming and budding wildlife photographer, has been published by Wild Feather Creation. Launching the book, Pawar said that Tinsukia district was endowed with rich biodiversity which needed to be explored in a scientific way. While appreciating Imon's work, Pawar said that this book would be a vital source of information for the newly-declared national park.

Dr SP Biswas, former professor of Dibrugarh University who was present as guest speaker, also highlighted the significance of such a hand book. While lamenting lack of any authentic documentation, Debojit Deuri said that it often became difficult to set up any planning for better wildlife management. The perennial man-elephant conflict in Tinsukia district should be mitigated, he maintained, adding that the domesticated elephants would be utilized for patrolling in border outposts in difficult terrains.
