DOOMDOOMA: The commemorative meeting on Gyanpith Award-winning writer Mamoni Raisom Goswami, organized by Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX), was held recently with president Bimala Deka in the chair.
In the beginning, president Bimala Baruah lit the lamp before her portrait. Thereafter, Dr Nita Pal, former Associate Professor, Women's College, Tinsukia, who was the chief guest, dwelt on the life and achievements of Goswami and reminisced the valuable experience of meeting her personally on some occasions.
The meeting, which was anchored by the branch secretary Deben Deka, was also attended by educationist and social worker Mrigen Shaikia, former Headmistress Nirla Chowdhury, National Tea Force Central president Suresh Bhumij and others. Three prominent poets, Jaysurya Bora, Indu Dutta Uzir and Bobby Bora, read out their poems and spoke about the contribution of Mamoni Raisom Goswami.
