TINSUKIA: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) under the forum of Left-Democratic Manch, Tinsukia took out a massive protest rally against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at Swahid Piyali Phukan Field on Sunday.
The rally was addressed by Com Deben Bhattacharyya, State secretary, with Madan Mohan Choudhury in the chair. Shubrajyoti Bardhan of CPI (ML), Kripal Baruah of LDP and Manuranjan Sarma of RCPI also spoke on the occasion. The meeting, while paying tribute to the five martyrs of the anti-CAA agitation, opposed vehemently the imposition of CAA against the wishes of the common masses. The meeting demanded compensation for the family members of the martyrs, besides instituting a judicial inquiry into their barbaric killing. The meeting also demanded that jailed leaders like Akhil Gogoi should be released unconditionally.
