Rihon Daimari has directed to complete Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream
project Jal Jeevan Mission for supply of drinking water through pipeline to the
households by March 31 at any cost. He
told at a review meeting on Tuesday organized by the District Administration
Cachar at the conference hall of the the office of the Deputy Commissioner Cachar.
He said that if the project is not be completed by March 31, it would be
difficult to get the second installment from the Central government.
PHE Minister Daimari emphasised the importance of Jal Jeevan Mission and asked the engineers to work in mission mode to achieve functional house tap connection target by completing the ongoing water supply schemes and retrofitting of completed scheme within March 21.
He requested all the MLAs to co-operate with the department for this mission so that if any problem arises can be solved with their cooperation. The Minister said that Government of India is monitoring the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission regularly as it is a flagship programme of Government of India. He assured that some technical staff will deployed very soon in each division to overcome the shortage of technical manpower.
While elaborating on the objectives and mission of the scheme he asked all concerned to train and motivate the user committees for better functioning of the schemes.
He said that Government will construct WSS but the maintenance of all schemes will have to be carried out by the users committee with the help of gaon Panchayat. The Gaon Panchayat is authorised to to expend 50 percent of their funds for water supply and sanitation works, the minister added.
Meanwhile, the review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister for P.H.E and public enterprises Rihon Daimari in presence of Forest, environment, excise and Fishery department Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya, MLA Silchar Dilip Kumar Paul and Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli.
While speaking about the project of Jal Jeevan Mission Excise Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya urged upon the department to implement the Jal Jeevan Mission schemes by involving all the MLAs of the district during commencement of work so that public also know about the details of the schemes so that after completion of work the operation and maintenance of the schemes is done smoothly by forming user's committee. He advised the department to take the help of gaon Panchayat also in the implementation and maintenance of the scheme. Other MLAs of the district also opined their views and expressed their willingness to co-operate with the department for completion of Jal Jeevan Mission schemes, stated a press release.
