Concluding programme of Ali Aye Ligang ‘Lrilen’ begins in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The two-day long concluding programme of Ali Aye Ligang ‘Lrilen’, observed centrally in Dhakuakhona subdivision of Lakhimpur district, began from Saturday at Mising Kristi Bhavan of the town with enthusiasm.

Retired Principal of Brahmaputra Junior College, Ramyanath Pegu inaugurated a massive plantation drive as part of the programme which began with traditional rituals held in the morning. The celebration committee president Parmananda Doley formally administered the ‘lrilen’, which was followed by the inauguration of the stage by Po:Pri Gumrag team. Radio artiste of Mising folk song, Rita Devi Medak inaugurated the cultural competition events in which cultural groups from various Mising villages under Dhakuakhona subdivision took part.

On the second day of the programme on Sunday, fashion designer Garima Saikia Garg will inaugurate the cultural procession. The open session of the programme will be inaugurated by Lakhimpur ASP Pranab Kumar Pegu while eminent writer Gayatri Doley will release the souvenir of the programme titled Ligang. Several renowned personalities of the Mising community along with TMPK president Padmalosan Pegu, MAC chairman Sunil Doley and Dhakuakhona SDO Arindam Baruah will take part in the programme.
