KOKRAJHAR: As a significant move in the historic ABSU conference at Dotma in Kokrajhar district on the 3rd day, a confluence of former ABSU leaders and special felicitation marked the reconciliation of ideology and unity of former leaders for the greater interest of the strong foundation of the Bodos.
As part of the programme, the inauguration of the “History All-Bodo Students Union and Bodoland Movement- 1967- 1993” (Volume 1) was done by Dr. Surath Narzary, President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha and founder member of the ABSU while discussion on the topic-”Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and Dream for Vibrant Bodo Community” was inaugurated by Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Minister of Assam and former President of the ABSU.
In his inaugural speech, Minister and former ABSU president UG Brahma said this was the first initiative to hold get together of former ABSU leaders in a platform to share their views which makes difference of feeling and ideology away from the heart. He said the talk on the nationalism was utmost important to make leaders coming together and bring back unity in a true sense. Division is not only in political life but in social life too but the division feeling in social life is healed automatically and so, there should be a driving force to make political groups united. The ABSU and the BSS are the biggest driving force in the society to bring all the groups together.
Brahma said the Bodoland movement brought the Bodos of Assam, West Bengal, lower Assam, upper Assam and Southern Assam together and made the uniformity of pronunciation of Bodo language. This movement had vibrancy in terms of unity, language, literature and political entity. He also said the ethnic tribal people of Jharkhand and Tripura had not got the political entity other than Territorial entity as these states are being run by others, not by ethnic tribal people. He also cautioned that Kokrajhar and Chirang districts of Bodoland could face global impact if Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) of Bhutan comes in to reality as these districts are attached with Bhutan. He also said for vibrant Bodo society one should adopt the principle-”Rivers never go in reverse but go straight”.
In his speech, the CEM of BTC Pramod Boro who was also the president of the ABSU said he world communities have their history of the past but the Bodos did not preserve their history. He said the history book of the Bodo movement from 1967 to 1993 brought out on the occasion of ABSU’s 57th annual conference was a great document for preservation for the future generation as this book has reflected the phase wise Bodo movement for the establishment of the Bodos. He said the Bodos had launched struggles from language to script, social reformation and education to statehood movement with uncompromising attitude and there is no end of struggle but the re-building of the society is utmost important. He said the world has advanced to technological innovation where AI is dominating every step and this is the critical time to face with a challenge. The preparation of the next millennium organized by the ABSU was very urgent for building of the society through the persons having innovative ideas. He also said the government of BTR has started setting up knowledge centres in 220 centres in BTC with a new concept.
