Silchar: Lambasting Congress, the TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev said, wrong decision and big brother attitude of the APCC leaders spoil the opposition unity in the state. Referring the recent meeting of the opposition allies in Sonapur that ended up in a mess following the hotted altercation between the Congress MP Pradyot Bardoloi and Rajior Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi, Dev said, the TMC was not even invited in the discussion. Admitting that the Congress had a better network in the state, Dev said, without a concerted fight of all the opposition parties, the BJP government could not be pulled down. Hinting that the Congress was never a good player in the alliance politics, Dev said, in 2021, the APCC wooed the AIUDF and made wrong seat sharing. Seats like Sonai where the Congress had a traditional support base, were handed over to the AIUDF, added Sushmita who left the Congress after 2021 Assembly election.
Maintaining that the Advantage Assam was a good move, Sushmita said, such investment summit is of late a common strategy of almost all the states to attract big corporate houses. Sushmita however maintained that she was disappointed as there was no proposal for Panchgram plant. She further said, 50 per cent commitments made in the Advantage Assam 1.0 was yet to be materialized. Sushmita said, when Sarbananda Sonowal was the Chief Minister, the people of the Silchar used to hear about a mega project namely Multi Modal Logistic Park which was supposed to be set up in Cachar district, but till now the site has not even been finalized.
