DHUBRI: The All Asom Sankhyalaghu Unnayan Sanstha (AASUS) extended its support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and will campaign for the candidates fielded by the party.

While addressing media persons on Friday, president of the AASUS, Samin Ali said that there was absolutely no development for desi, khilanjia or goria-moria (indigenous Muslims) during years of Congress rule.

"The Congress did nothing for all-round development of indigenous Muslims, but when BJP-led government came to power in Dispur, it prepared a road map for socio-economic, cultural and political development of the community and is doing a lot of work for the community," Ali said.

"We extend our full support to the BJP and its alliance to continue the pace of development that Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal initiated. The Congress has always used the indigenous Muslim community as their vote bank. So to stop Congress and the Grand Alliance from coming to power, we are campaigning for BJP candidate Dr. DebamoySanyal from this constituency (Dhubri)," Ali added.

AASUS also released a leaflet urging voters belonging to both indigenous and non-indigenous Muslim communities to vote for Dr. DebamoySanyal and send him to Dispur. The press meet was also attended by Dhubri district unit AASUS president SahadatHussain and other leaders.
