LAKHIMPUR: "During the last five year tenure, the BJP-led State Government was potent enough to implement tremendous developmental activities. In this short span of time, the people of the State have experienced unprecedented changes. The Congress party could not bring such changes to the State despite remaining in power for a long term. Most of the time, the party adopted inferior politics to weaken the people by misappropriating public funds. So, the people of Assam and India taught the party a good lesson in the last elections. The Congress has no future," stated Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Lakhimpur on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister made this statement while interacting with the media persons after accompanying Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate of Bihpuriya Legislative Assembly Constituency, while filing his nomination. Notably, the Chief Minister arrived in Lakhimpur around 2.30 pm by a helicopter, after he had filed his nomination in Majuli as BJP candidate, along with DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh and Phani Sarmah, the chief organizing secretary of Assam BJP, in order to accompany Amiya Kumar Bhuyan.

The Chief Minister further stated that the BJP-led State Government had completed the five year term successfully with the massive support from the people of the State. "During the last five year tenure of our government, we attempted to transform our promises into activities with dedication and conviction. The people of the State have observed it. The works which we could do in our term with the support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, were possible only because of our honour and devotion to the people of the State. We adopted exemplary endeavours to strengthen the Assamese community, unifying the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys, plains and hills and integrating all, due to which remarkable implementation of developmental activities was possible. The Congress could not do it in 55 years," the Chief Minister added. Hitting at the Congress, the Chief Minister added that the party had been putting the people of the State in uncertainty and deplorable condition. "Congress had been keeping the land, foundation, culture, language and literature of Assam in uncertainty. We are happy that we could secure the mati (land) and bheti (foundation) of the people due to our honour and devotion to every community of the State. We secured the culture of the State and took up noteworthy attempts for the amelioration of the language and culture," Sonowal asserted.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister affirmed the victory of BJP in the upcoming assembly election. "The Congress has come to an alliance with the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). The other parties have also understanding with these two parties. The people of the State can understand it. So the people of the State have decided to bring the BJP to power again for the welfare of public, development of the State, security and peace. They will root out Congress and other parties in the election," the Chief Minister declared.
