Sonitpur: Amid the infighting in national Congress and alleged poor leadership in Assam Congress, BJP MLA from Sootea, Padma Hazarika has said "the Congress is on the verge of extinction in Assam along with in the Sootea Constituency."

Hazarika was speaking at meeting held at Dharikathi in Chariduar, Sonitpur District of Assam.

A huge procession was organized to welcome the BJP MLA. There were about 500 bikes who took part in the procession. Speaking on the occasion the MLA stated that, the political situation in Assam would be worse than Bihar in the 2021 Assembly election. Even though Congress is trying to defeat the BJP with AIUDF, they would not succeed.

Speaking to media Hazarika said, "Today is a very happy day for us. We have started a project worth Rs 7 crore for the development of a road in Chariduar. The length of the road is 11 kilometres. The public is also satisfied with our work. It was very important to build the road in Chariduar."

He said that the presence of a large number of people at the rally is a healthy sign for the BJP, ahead of the state elections next year.

Hundreds of workers from Congress and AGP formally joined the BJP.
