Congress protests against fuel price hike at Jagun

JAGUN: The Margherita block Congress Committee, along with Youth Congress and Mahila Congress Committee, protested against the soaring prices of diesel and petrol at Jagun near the Lama Tiniali Petrol pump and staged NH-315 blockade for one hour on Sunday afternoon.

Protesters shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government in Assam. Congress leaders Rubul Gogoi, Basu Chetry and Dev Gurung supported the protest and demanded that the prices of essential commodities, including petroleum products, should be decreased as common people were suffering due to price hike. Unless that happens, they would be compelled to launch a series of agitation programmes and road blockade soon, said the Congress leaders.
