Congress ruined Assam, BJP has developed the state in 5 years: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

GUWAHATI: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in his maiden election rally to Assam, stated that Congress has ruined Assam in 50 years, however, the Bhartiya Janata Party BJP has made Assam a prosperous and developed state in the last five years.

Chouhan a star campaigner of BJP was in Naharkatia today which is going to the polls in the first phase on March 27.

The Madhya Pradesh CM is campaigning for first-time BJP candidate Taranga Gogoi, who is pitted against Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Congress's former minister Pranatee Phukan. Sitting AGP MLA Naren Sonowal, part of the BJP-led NDA, is also in a "friendly contest" against the BJP candidate.

Stating that Assam was on the verge of destruction during the Congress rule, which has increased foreign infiltration with no development and dominant corruption in the state. However, the state has written a saga of development after the Sarbananda Sonowal led BJP government came to power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chouhan further asserted that the Congress party is following the footsteps of Jinnah and not Mahatma Gandhi which is an attempt to destroy the country. He said this in context to the opposition party's alliance with AIUDF in Assam, ISF in West Bengal and IUML in Kerala.
