Algapur: After the Brahmaputra
Valley, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) sounded the poll bugle in Barak Valley as
well. The AGP organized the Jatiya Aikya Samaroh followed by a massive meeting
for the party workers. This time the strong support of the public for the AGP
could be heard in the Barak Valley also. Thousands of party workers and
well-wishers of AGP flooded the convention in Algapur, which was once the
battleground of AGP minister Shahidul Alam Choudhury. Even the harsh weather and
blazing sun could not dampen the enthusiasm of the party workers and party
well-wishers. The insignia and pride of the AGP- its colorful flag could be
seen all over the place.
AGP president and State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora said, "The Congress party is now infected with a virus which is far worse than the coronavirus. The new virus present among Congress party workers can be termed as 'Congress Virus'. Badruddin Ajmal has been spreading the Congress virus using holy water and the members of the Congress party have been using this holy water of Ajmal as if the water is from the 'Holy Grail'. However, even this remedy by Ajmal has become futile and instead of curing, the 'Congress Virus' is spreading rapidly among the party members." "In order to recuperate and heal themselves from the so-called virus, many top Congress leaders have abandoned the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or other political parties. Certainly, the Congress party can never recover from such huge losses," Bora added.
Expressing concern, the minister commented, "The Congress party since Independence has used the minority groups as their own 'vote bank' and the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party is also following the same way. The ideology, approach, motto, and temperament of both the parties are the same." He asked people to boycott both parties.
"The AGP will always give equal dignity, rights, respect, and esteem to all the religious minorities of Barak Valley in addition to other ethnic groups. Therefore, the people of Algapur should also be a part of this new journey of the AGP," said the AGP president.
He said that the agriculture sector, which saw many irregularities during the tenure of the previous Congress government, was now undergoing a landmark change. President of Hailakandi District Legislative Council, Aftab Uddin Laskar was also present at the convention, stated a press release.
