Constituencies of BKWAC will be formed soon: Speaker Biswajit Daimary
Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) speaker Biswajit Daimary said that the constituencies of the (BKWAC) would be constituted by notifying the Bodo community villages soon.

LAKHIMPUR: Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) speaker Biswajit Daimary said that the constituencies of the Bodo-Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) would be constituted by notifying the Bodo community villages soon. He added that the Bodo villages located in the Sonitpur and Biswanath districts would also be covered under BKWAC and then steps would be initiated to allot a good amount of fund to the autonomous council concerned. The ALA speaker said so on Saturday while inaugurating the open session held in connection with the 9th annual conference of the UBPO (United Bodo People's Organization), conducted at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Panjabari in Guwahati with three-day long programmes.
On the concluding day of the event, the open session was chaired by UBPO president Manuranjan Basumatary. BKWAC chief Mihiniswar Basumatary graced the occasion as appointed speaker, who said that Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma spearheaded a mass movement during the eighty's of the last century in order to achieve the judicious rights of the Bodos to ensure the comprehensive development and progress of the community across the State. He added that the movement must be continued by the Bodo community organizations with united strength for the amelioration of the community.
Reception Committee president, MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita delivered the welcome address. Mising Autonomous Council chairperson Sunil Kumar Pegu, All Assam Bengali Youth-Students' Federation president Dipak Dey, Assam Bhojpuri Parishad president Kailash Kumar Gupta delivered lecture in the event as guest of honour.
On the other hand, Tiwa Autonomous Council EM Binita Daimary, Ganatantrik Nagarik Suraksha Mancha general secretary Tolan Sonowal and the dignitaries of various Bodo community frontal organizations attended the programme as invited guests. In the prize distribution ceremony, Geetartha Goswami, the member-secretary of the Student and Youth Welfare Advisory Committee, Government of Assam was present as guest of honour, wherein volleyball winner team Dakhin Kamrup Eleven and runner-up team Golaghat Eleven were honoured with prize money of Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
The delegates' session of the event constituted the new executive body of the UBPO for the upcoming session with Manuranjan Basumatary as president, Lalit Chandra Brahma, Ranjan Basumatary, Badal Mussahari as vice-presidents, Pitambar Brahma as general secretary, Amrit Kumar Basumatary, Abiram Boro as assistant general secretaries, Prabin Brahma, Sushanta Mussahari as secretaries, Ghanakanta Mohela as chairperson, Jonaram Brahma as vice-chairperson, Katiram Tulsiyary, Pranjita Boro, Pradip Kumar Mohela, Atul Goyari, Kabita Basumatary, Ratiram Basumatary as organizing secretaries.
