Continuous Education Programme for working pharmacists held in Tinsukia

A virtual Continuous Education Programme (CEP) on renewal of registration for the working pharmacists was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University on October 4- October 5.

TINSUKIA: A virtual Continuous Education Programme (CEP) on renewal of registration for the working pharmacists was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dibrugarh University on October 4- October 5.

Sponsored by Assam Pharmacy Council (API) and facilitated by Assam Branch of Indian Tea Association (ABITA) Zone 1, Dibrugarh, pharmacists from 31 tea estates of Zone 1 participated, of which 60 pharmacists were selected for the virtual training from among the pharmacists working in hospitals and dispensaries under the Government of Assam and different tea gardens of Assam. The candidates were selected prioritizing the need as per Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) mandate.

Laying the objective of the programme, Madhurjya Barooah, Secretary, ABITA Zone 1, said that advances in pharmaceutical science and technology had made healthcare services more advanced day by day, offering newer and advanced technologies for drug development and drug delivery system. This training was aimed to upgrade and enhance the capacity of the pharmacists with the updated information and technology and to provide continuing pharmacy education to meet the requirement of the pharmacists.

The virtual programme was designed with four sessions wherein eminent academicians and members from PCI deliberated on various topics prescribed by PCI. Dr Hemanta Kr. Sharma, Coordinator of the CEP, who is also a member of PCI and Assam Pharmacy Council, said that CEP of this nature would help the pharmacists in refreshing their knowledge with new information on pharmaceutical technology and also fulfil their requirement in renewal of their registration. Dr. Sharma also said that the next CEP would be organized in the month of November.

The tea gardens which represented the programm were Satyanarayan, Dhoedaam, Balijan (H), Sealkotee, Lankashi, Khobong, Deamoolie, Phillobari, Rungagora, Beheating, Achabam, Borpatra, Borhat, Hazelbank, Dirai, Betjan, Beesakopie, Khobong, Jaipur, Greenwood, Samdang, Borborooah, Hapjan, Panitola, Sessa, Romai, Thanai, Khongea, Hokonguri, Bordubi and Namroop TEs.
