Contractors' body demands restoration of Tangla Irrigation Division office

TANGLA: The Tangla Irrigation Contractor Association have strongly registered its protest over the decision of Assam Cabinet to limit the jurisdiction of Tangla Irrigation Division and replace it with the name of Paneri-Kalaigaon division with its headquarter at Tangla. The President and Secretary of the Association, Dr. Hari Ram Das and Dilip Kumar Dutta called on a meet of the contractors at Tangla Irrigation Inspection Bungalow on Saturday and expressed anguish over the move of the government . He asserted that such arbitrarty action of the government of limiting the territorial jurisdiction and renaming the Tangla Irrigation Division established way back in the year 1975 will be detrimental to the cause of the society as livelihood of the people of various strata of the society are directly and indirectly dependent on the office for years now." We will never such decision and continue to hold series of protest programs until and unless the government rolls back the move " said President of the Association Dr. Hari Ram Das. He further asserted to move the Union leadership in the Centre along with Assam Government and Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) authorities for nullification of the notification and restoration of the Tangla Irrigation Division to its present form in the greater interest of the public.
