Guwahati: In another major triumph for the medical fraternity of Assam, a coronavirus positive woman on Monday gave birth to a baby at the Diphu Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in Karbi Anglong district.

According to reports, both the mother and her child are in a 'stable' condition. The hospital authorities are now awaiting the result of the baby's coronavirus status. It needs mention here that the pregnant lady tested positive for the virus on July 23. Soon after it came to light, the woman was admitted to the DMCH Old Block of the DMCH that has been converted into a COVID-19 hospital.

This follows after 2 COVID-19 positive women in Kokrajhar town of Assam gave birth to healthy COVID-19 negative babies. Both the mothers hail from Titaguri area under Kokrajhar subdivision and were detected COVID-19 positive at an advanced stage of their pregnancy. The proud mothers have been identified as Runjun Mahanta (32 ), who gave birth to a female baby, and Kankana Barman (22), who gave birth to a male baby.

At the same time, with the up-gradation of the health facilities devoted to the coronavirus fight, many healthy babies are being conceived by women who have been undergoing treatment at COVID Care Centers.
