Corruption in Baksa Shal Bari bridge construction alleged

BARPETA ROAD: There is an allegation of corruption in the construction of Ramcharitari pucca bridge at Shal Bari, Baksa. People protested against the contractor who built the bridge, alleging widespread corruption.

Three years ago under the then BPF-led government, the construction work of a pucca bridge was started in Ramchari, the path from Sadar Bhitha to Ramcharihat, under the Shal Bari division. But with the connivance of some Public Works officials and the bridge construction contractor, the bridge has not been constructed till date. People from 40 villages are connected with this path. As a result, hundreds of people from the area protested near the bridge.
