COVID-19: Awareness meeting in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: In the wake of the detection of one COVID-19 positive case, the Lakhimpur district administration organized a crucial awareness meeting on Saturday in the presence of the representatives of various minority and religious organizations of the district in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The meeting was held regarding measures to be taken to contain any further spread of COVID-19 in the upcoming days. Representatives of Christian, Muslim, Gorkha, Jain, Hindu, Sikh and Bihari communities took part in the event.

In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Dr. Jeevan B asked all not to organize any religious gathering and appealed to them to inform their community people to maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of the pandemic. He also asked the members to oversee that the lockdown was strictly followed by all sections of people. He informed that any person found violating quarantine and lockdown rules would be dealt with seriously and punitive action would be taken as per provisions of the Section 166 of IPC.
