COVID-19: Biswanath district administration declared five containment zones

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The Biswanath district administration declared the potential areas coming in contact with Bijoy Shankar Das, who was tested COVID-19 positive, as containment zones and has already sealed off all the areas.

The five areas declared as containment zone by the district administration with effect from 10 am on Wednesday are Shantipur area, Mistimukh confectionery, Book Centre, Romney Vastralaya and Joy Bharat Salon and Paris Beauty Parlour. In accordance with the order issued by the Biswanath District Magistrate under the Assam COVID-19 Rules, 2020, the entry and exit of any person without the permission of the administration in this controlled area is prohibited and the movement of any person and vehicle is banned. During this time it is mandatory to maintain social distancing in the controlled area and to follow the rules.

These rules will remain in force until the area is declared safe under the regulations of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Violators of this order will be prosecuted under the Assam COVID-19 Rules 2020, Disaster Mitigation Act 2005, Epidemic Prevention Act 1896 and other laws.

Meanwhile, one Saddam Hussein (18) of North Kalalati, Chatiya tested COVID-19 positive. With this, the total number COVID-19 cases in the district reached 89.
