COVID-19 cases cross 5,000 mark in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: The alarming spike of COVID-19 patients continues in Lakhimpur district. A total of 199 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Friday. Of them, 164 patients were found positive for coronavirus infection through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while remaining 35 patients were detected as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result.

Notably, a total of 339 patients were detected in the district in the last three days. Out of them, 120 patients were found positive on Tuesday, 94 on Wednesday while 125 patients were detected on Thursday. With these newly-detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases spiked to 5,030 on Friday. Out of them, 3,306 patients were discharged while 1,724 are active cases.

The pandemic scenario has been worsening in Lakhimpur district day by day. The number of COVID-19 patients in the district has been spiking alarmingly. A total of 22 persons of the district have lost their lives due to the pandemic till date.
