COVID-19: Chira Market area in Mangaldai declared as containment zone

MANGALDAI: After an employee of a sweetmeat shop at Chira Market of Mangaldai daily market tested positive for COVID-19, the district administration of Darrang has declared the Chira Market area as containment zone with immediate effect until further notification. The infection of the employee has created a panic situation here in the district headquarters town. On the other hand, one person at village Keotpara of Dahi area under Mangaldai Revenue Circle has also tested positive. Tapan Sarma, originally of Udalguri and working as a medical representative in Guwahati, had come to his in-laws' house with his wife. The infected person has been admitted in the COVID-19 hospital at Janaramchowka Model Hospital. The district administration has also declared village Keotpara as containment zone.
