COVID-19: Entry points to many villages in Kokrajhar district blocked

Kokrajhar: Immediately after the declaration of countrywide lockdown for 21 days to contain the deadly coronavirus outbreak, many villages have blocked the paths leading to their respective villages.

Most of the villages in the district, including the village of BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary at Debargaon, have barricades at the entry points to the villages. People coming from outside are not allowed to enter the villages. Village lockdown has been reported in Dotma, Simbargaon, Ramfalbil, Patgaon, Debargaon, villages adjacent to Kokrajhar town, Kachugaon and in different parts of Gossaigaon subdivision. Many villagers have put up written signboards asking people not to enter the village due to COVID -19 outbreak. Talking to this reporter, a villager of Debargaon said that they had blocked the entry path to their village as there was fear among people about a possible COVID-19 outbreak. He said that hundreds of people used to visit the residence of the BTC chief from different corners of BTC and outside and therefore, the villagers had taken preventive measure. He also called upon the people to stay at home for their safety.
