COVID-19: Himanta Biswa Sarma takes stock of situation at Guwahati Central Jail
Nearly 210 cases have been detected across the jails in Assam, out of which 185 cases have been detected at the Guwahati Central Jail.

Guwahati: In the wake of a rapid surge in the COVID-19 cases inside the Guwahati Central Jail, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the jail premises and took stock of the situation on Wednesday, July 16.

The state health minister went to review medical and other facilities in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in the jail. It has been reported that Dr. Sarma was accompanied by the senior health department officials.

It is to be noted that some of the inmates in the jail claimed that about 95% of the prisoners are COVID-19 positive. They say that there have been no proper arrangements to control the spread of coronavirus inside the jail premises.
