COVID-19 outbreak: Essential items distributed by many NGO

Tezpur: Amid nationwide lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, a frontline NGO of Tezpur, Bhoomi distributed food packets to 25 poor daily wage worker families at Chandmari area under Lalmati Outpost recently.

The programme was initiated by secretary of Bhoomi, Dip Kumar Kalita, member Parwaj Banu, Ranjit Barua, advisor of Bhoomi, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar and others. These food packets contain 4 kg rice, 1kg mosur dal, 1litre mustard oil, one packet of soyabean, 1kg potato, salt, turmeric powder, washing soap and tea leaves.

PATHSALA: Patacharkuchi Press Club distributed relief material among the hawkers of the Patacharkuchi area. Amidst the outbreak of COVID-19, there have been rumours that newspapers may act as carriers of the virus. After the clarification by WHO that this was not so, the newspaper agencies of Suresh Sarma and Abhoy Sarma have been distributing newspapers with the help of hawkers. The member of the Press Club on Wednesday felicitated the agents and hawkers with phulam gamosa and masks. Packets of essential food items were also distributed among the hawkers.
