HAILAKANDI: Four more employees of Deputy Commissioner's Office tested positive, taking the total number of affected employees to eight, including an official. District administration authorities here disclosed that four drivers namely Bisnu Das, 46, Salimuddin Laskar, 45, Sirajuddin Laskar, 51, and Lalmuhan Das, 60, all turned out to be COVID-19 positive. Earlier, one officer of the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner, his peon and PSO tested positive. Nasal and throat swab of officials and employees of DC's office are being taken, including all the government offices in the district.

An employee of District Jail, Rupak Das, 30, turned out to be positive on Thursday evening. Altogether 24 positive coronavirus cases were detected in the district on Thursday, taking the total tally to 405. 297 cured persons have been released from hospitals with only 94 active cases remaining, as per health bulletin released on Thursday evening. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Of the 10,155 swab samples taken so far, 7,722 turned out to be negative. Swab results of 1,249 are awaited as on Thursday. 1,057 persons are under facility quarantine centres while 4,434 persons under home quarantine.
