TINSUKIA: The number COVID-19 cases in Tinsukia district have been increasing in alarming proportion. Positive cases are being detected almost daily from different quarantine centres in the district. With the detection of fresh 13 positive cases on Wednesday and Thursday, the number has spiked to 214. The cases were detected from several quarantine centres namely Manab Kalyan Prarthona Bhawan Tinsukia (4), Rishi Bhawan (1), Parth Hotel (1), Digboi College (3), Multipurpose Hall Margherita (2), St Mary's Margherita (1) and Nandan Hotel (1). The positive persons have been identified as Bitupan Chetry (21), Shiva Kr Chetry (20), Bilap Tandia (26), Rahul Minj (22), Bitapan Saikia (34), Tarun Jhunjunwala (43), Durga Moni Garh (24), Shanti Devi (47), Pinky Mech (25), Rahul Kumar (24), Radhika Singh (25), Sagar Upadhyaya (17) and Sita Rai (55).

With one active quarantine zone in Tinsukia district namely TDA Market Complex at AT Road Tinsukia, the number of inmates as on June 24 in institutional and home quarantine are 947 and 976 respectively. While 6,800 persons were screened, 4,926 number of inmates have been released from institutional quarantine centres.
