COVID-19: Screening and random sample collection underway in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: With a target of 50,000 samples to be collected for COVID-19 testing from across the State under Targeted Surveillance Drive envisaged within the framework of the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP) and the exercise to be completed on June 27, screening and random sample collection began in Tinsukia district on June 16 under the supervision of the Joint Director of Health Services Tinsukia.

Aimed to cover all categories of people engaged in various professions like truck parking and unloading bays, railway yards and godowns, frontline district officials, hotel staff and family members of persons released from institutional quarantine, a micro-plan has been prepared by Tinsukia District Administration in consultation with the Superintendent of Police and other organizations concerned.

As per micro plan prepared by Tinsukia District Administration, two teams will collect samples from different locations across the district. In Tinsukia district, the sample collections began on Wednesday at Police Reserve and will cover Chamber Road Siding for truckers, Tinsukia Civil Hospital, SP office, office of the Deputy Commissioner, petrol depots, quarantine hotel staff, Press Club, railway staff, ASTC Tinsukia, Doomdooma and Sadiya, health staff, dhabas and line hotels, Coal India and collieries and others.
