COVID-19 training organized for Tea Estate doctors in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar, Medical Inspector of Plantations, Tezpur organized a day-long training programme on the COVID-19 pandemic in association with Bornali Changkakoti, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Tezpur at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital on Friday.

The training was formally inaugurated by Tezpur MP Pallab Lochon Das in the presence of Dr Karuna Hazarika, Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent of TMCH, Dr Benudhar Nath, Nodal Officer, journalist and social activist Dip Kumar Kalita and other dignitaries.

In his inaugural speech, Pallab Lochon Das welcomed all doctors and expressed his gratefulness for their support during this crucial period. He urged all doctors to keep strict vigil on the health condition of the people staying in quarantine centres established in tea gardens.

During the training period, a total of 60 doctors from different tea estates of Sonitpur, Biswanath, Udalguri and Darrang districts were imparted training by experts on maintaining distancing, proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits and guidelines for handling, treatment and disposal of waste generated during the treatment of COVID-19 infected patient.

During the programme, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar said that all necessary support would be provided to all medical and paramedical staff to face the pandemic situation in the tea gardens.

Dr. Safikul Islam and Dr. Bhaskar Brhma acted as resource persons who delivered lecture on COVID-19 and present SOP of keeping people in quarantine centres and transportation of suspected COVID-19 patients and examination of suspected COVID-19 patients.
