COVID scare caused by doctor couple of FAAMCH in Barpeta

BARPETA: The authority of Barpeta’s Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) is facing a difficult situation due to a physician couple of FAAMCH who remained out of the station without informing the authority.

The couple allegedly went to Saudi Arabia secretly a few days ago. Both husband and wife are working as junior resident doctors at the ENT department. After returning from their trip, they reached Barpeta on March 9 and joined service again on March 11. It was a matter of surprise that the physician couple did not disclose their travel abroad to the higher authority, nor did they inform it the hospital authority. When news about their travel abroad came to light, there was hue and cry among the workers of FAAMCH.

As a precaution to prevent the spread of coronavirus, it is mandatory for all Indian people who have gone abroad to submit the details of their travel to the authority concerned. This physician couple broke all rules and brought a threat to the health department. The couple has been kept away from service for 14 days. They are also not allowed to go outside and have been kept under observation at their rented house at Metuakuchi by the FAAMCH authority, said Dr. Dhruvajyoti Bora, Principal of FAAMCH.

The RR team (Corona Rapid Response Team) has been checking their health from time to time. If any symptom develops then their blood will be tested immediately, added Dr. Bora. He further said that a letter had already sent to the higher authority for necessary action against these two physicians who had gone abroad without informing the higher authority and took leave for domestic work.

On the other hand, the FAAMCH authority has not taken any decision of stopping the operation theatre for coronavirus fear psychosis, said Dr. Saitendra Nath Talukdar, Nodal Officer, Corona Rapid Response Team.

No symptoms of coronavirus haven been detected in the couple as of now.
