COVID tally in Dhekiajuli rises to 52 with 5 news positive cases

DHEKIAJULI: There is fear among people of Dhekiajuli due to the alarming rise in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. Till Sunday, the figure reached 52. On Sunday, five more COVID-19 positive cases were detected. Ratan Das, a resident of ward number 4, Dhekiajuli, allegedly did not follow COVID protocol in his son's wedding ceremony on July 5 where more than 100 people from different parts of Dhekiajuli attended. After the wedding, Ratan Das and 11 family members were infected. The local administration has taken strong measures to prevent further escalation of the situation. So far several bylanes of different wards of Dhekiajuli municipality areas have been declared as containment zones.
