LAKHIMPUR: A Credit Outreach Programme was organized under the aegis of District Lead Bank, Punjab National Bank in association with Lakhimpur district administration on Friday in order to disburse various loans among the beneficiaries. The main objective of the programme is to extend financial help to those businessmen who have been critically affected by the adverse situation induced by COVID-19 pandemic, so that they could restart their businesses.

With this objective, the DFS, Ministry of Finance, Government of India has instructed the Lead District Managers (LDMs) to sanction the loans to the beneficiaries at the earliest. Following this instruction, the credit outreach programmes or loan fairs have been organized in each and every district from October 16 until October 30.

The programme was held in the conference hall of the Lakhimpur Zila Parishad Office under the management of RSETI Project Manager Bijit Borah while LDM Nandeswar Barman explained the objective of the programme. Attending the programme as a chief guest, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan formally distributed loan sanction letters among the beneficiaries.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the banks to take the credit outreach programme to the remote areas of the district and to organize credit awareness programme covering the people of the rural areas. In the programme, District Information and Public Relation Officer, Chief Manager of the District Industry and Commerce Center, Regional Manager of Asom Gramin Vikash Bank and other dignitaries were present. A total of 11 banks in the district took part in the programme paying out the loans to the beneficiaries concerned.
