Guwahati: The Crime branch busted two prime accused in IPL betting from Athgaon area of Guwahati.

The Crime Branch has busted them for betting in the IPL 2021 Cricket match.

Earlier, the main accused in the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket that was busted by the Guwahati Police, Crime Branch recently – Ashok Jain and Manoj Jain– have fled to some other State to evade arrest. The Guwahati Police, Crime Branch is reportedly in touch with the police of that State. The Guwahati Police, Crime Branch, had launched an operation in Guwahati recently and busted an IPL betting racket. Police had arrested three gamblers – Dipesh Bajoria, Raunak Bajoria and Rajesh Jain. The trio was allegedly operating a cricket betting racket across the State and the north-eastern region as well.

Based on their confessions, Guwahati Police, Crime Branch raided the business establishment of Ashok Jain and Manoj Jain in the Fancy Bazar area and their residence in Athgaon on Monday. From the business establishment and residence (CR Kunj), Rs 26.42 lakh, four mobile phone handsets and some incriminating documents were recovered. The Guwahati Police, Crime Branch had conducted an operation on Saturday night in an apartment at Nabagraha in the city. The apartment belonged to Ajay Agarwal. Police did not find him there but they managed to seize Rs 3.65 lakh cash, a laptop and five mobile phone handsets.
