CRPF jawan arrested on rape charges in Bokajan

BOKAJAN: Bokajan Police has arrested a CRPF jawan for allegedly raping a 21-year old girl in Bokajan, informed police on Wednesday.

Presently posted in Arunachal Pradesh, the accused jawan is on leave, informed sources.

The victim lodged the complaint on April 4. According to the FIR (First Information Report), the CRPF jawan identified as Iliad Banda took the girl along with four other girls for a drive in his new car. He reportedly committed the crime on April 1.

Though the girl had later narrated the incident to her family members, they tried to hush up the matter for fear of social stigma and humiliation in the village following police action.

A case under Section 376 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) has been registered against the accused.
