MANGALDAI: Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah on Sunday made a day-long official visit to Darrang district to take stock of the functioning of the various departments with special focus on the current COVID scenario as well as implementation of the flagship Central and State government schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission, household electrification, etc.
The Chief Secretary met the district-level heads of the various departments such as health services, power distribution, public health engineering (PHE), education, revenue, among others, at the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner at Mangaldai.
In his interaction with the senior officials of the district health services, the Chief Secretary took stock of the current COVID scenario in the district, while instructing the district administration and the district health officials to ensure by October 31 that all residents of the district above 18 years of age are vaccinated against COVID-19. The Chief Secretary further asked the district administration officials to ensure that all the residents adhere to the COVID protocols.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission, Basundhara scheme, among others, in the district. Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Sahu and Secretary Partha Pratim Mazumdar of Social Welfare department also joined the Chief Secretary in today's meeting. These two senior officials had earlier in the day inspected various activities and institutions under the social welfare department.
Deputy Commissioner Prabhati Thaosen, Superintendent of Police Sushanta Biswa Sarma, all the Additional Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and Circle Officers were also present in the meeting.
