Cycle rally on fuel conservation & environment preservation in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: Under the auspices of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Assam Oil Division (AOD) and with active co-operation of Ellora Vigyan Mancha(EVM), Doomdooma Branch, a member organisation of All India People Science Network (AIPSN), a bicycle rally was brought out to create awareness on ‘Fuel Conservation and Environment Preservation’ at Doomdooma on Friday.

The students of Lotus Academy and Doomdooma Girls High School took part in the rally which was taken out from Doomdooma town field. Prior to the rally, an oath to conserve fuel for betterment of the society was administered by Dhiren Deka, president of Assam Science Writers Association (ASWA) and thereafter he flagged off the rally which toured along the main thoroughfares of the town by displaying placards like ‘Science for Development’, ‘Stop attack on Science and Rationalism’, ‘Form Public opinion against Superstition and obscurantism’, ‘Lay stress on popularization of Science among school students’ etc.

The president of EVM, Jhikananda Borgohain, working president Advocate Tarini Deka, members Dr B K Ghose and Noni Deka and teacher Someswar Baruah also took part in the rally and encouraged the students.
